TRAKAI TRIATHLON

Triathlon started its history in Hawaii in 1978, and today it is one of the fastest growing sports in the world. Triathlon combines three different disciplines: swimming, cycling and running.

Trakai triathlon will be held for the 12th time this summer in Trakai.

Trakai is a historic city and lake resort in Lithuania. It lies 28 km west of Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. Because of the famous castle on the water and Trakai proximity to Vilnius, the town is a popular tourist destination.

Trakai is known as a town built on water. It is surrounded by the lakes of Luka (Bernardinai), Totoriškės, Galvė, Akmena, Gilušis. There are several architectural, cultural and historical monuments in Trakai. The history museum in the castle was established in 1962.

Every year there are more than 400 participants in “Skaylink Trakai Triathlon” – both professionals and sports enthusiasts. Everyone can test their own individual abilities in all three different disciplines: swimming, cycling and running. The relay is a perfect place to build that team spirit where all three team players can show their personal best of what they do: whether it’s swimming, cycling or running.

“Skaylink Trakai Triathlon” has an Olympic, Sprint (Half Olympic) and Super sprint distance.

Individuals can choose those distance:

TRIATHLON:

  • Olympic distance: 1,5k swimming, 40k cycling and 10k running.
  • Sprint distance: 0.75k swimming, 20k cycling and 5k running.
  • Super sprint distance: 0.2k swimming, 10k cycling and 2,5k running.

Team consisting of three members will have a chance to test themselves in the Triathlon relay by completing each stage separately.

RELAY:

  • Sprint distance: 3 team members share different disciplines: 0.75k swimming, 20k cycling and 5k running.
  • TRI-FUN distance: 3 team members share different disciplines: 0.2k swimming, 10k cycling and 2,5k running.

All the finishers will be awarded with medal.

The athletes, teams or their cheerleaders are invited to enjoy the beautiful scene of Trakai and the summer sun on the bank of lake Galvė while watching the competition.
